Hello from Alabama

I have owned the RAVA 4, Prius and now the Highlander Hybrid. I live in
Huntsville, Alabama and I am retired. I recently bought the 2008 Highlander
and find it to be a great car. But while searching the net for a problem
I had, I came up this web site and I hope you can help me.

The car I bought has the chrome rim missing from the cup holder, I took
it to the dealer and they say they can't order the rim, but have to order
the entire assembly, around $700. I am not paying $700 for a $20
chrome rim. Any ideas would be appreicated.

I have enjoyed a lot of the post I have read.

Thank you,

Jerry

Hi, Jerry! As a fellow Highlander owner let me welcome you to Toyota Nation! Sounds like the chrome rim is an integral part of the center console, and your best bet would probably be a pick-a-part junkyard to acquire that piece.

It is hard to believe a snap in piece of chrome and you
have to buy the whole assembly, not a good design or business.
Or maybe it is good business if Toyota can get you to
buy the $700 part.

Thanks,
Jerry

It's part of a modular design philosophy that permeates everything today. It's great for keeping unit and production costs down, but sucks big time for minor cosmetic damage or defects when they occur. A pick-a-part in your area ought to have a couple Highlanders at least on the lot. Hope you find it soon!
