Cigarette Lighter Problem?

Hey all,

I'm a new Toyota owner. A 1993 Spacia. Bought in Sydney and I'm using it as a campervan travelling round Australia. Has been fantastic so far and the van is all good apart from the cigarette lighter doesn't work.

When i hold it in nothing happens (it doesn't heat up) I'm hoping to use this to charge my phone but their doesn't seem to be any power coming out. I have changed the fuse with a working one. But still no joy.

How easy is it to remove the current cigarette lighter socket, and replace with a new one?. Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Cheers Matt

If you pull it out the wires attach at a plastic clip on the back. Since it gets hot the plastic can deform or become brittle, break and detach. If thats what happened cut it off and replace it with two common female butt connectors.

Also, my wife's used 06 Volvo came with a non working cig lighter in front. After getting no results from replacing the blown fuse, I took it to a dealer and they quoted me a couple hundred to fix it. They also mentioned that it looked like some one had spilled soda in it or something. I took it home, popped it out, cleaned it good with Goo Gone, isopropyl alcohol and and a bit of 400 grit sand paper and it works fine now.
