Hello everyone. I owned a ´72 FJ 40 back in the seventies and loved it. Now I live in Colombia, South America and I probobly see a dozen of these vehicles every day and every once in a while a pickup version. Most pickups here quickly lose their box and get a stake bed installed (holds more) but now and then I see an FJ 45 with it´s original box like this one:
The rarest of the rare is the FJ style long wheelbase 4 door "wagon" model. I´ve only seen two here but interestingly I did see one on Rt. 7 in Vermont in 1969, replete with snowplow. Not to get off topic but I have also seen four or five of the early sixties model Nissan Patrol (even including a pickup version but with stake bed of course). They look like old Willys Jeepsters.
I probobly won´t post much since I don´t have a Toyota but if any body wants me to take snapshots of the Toyota Machos (latest iteration of the FJ 40) or the Prados I´ll be happy to. Landcruisers, Machos and Prados were actually assembled here from 1994 until just last year by a company called SOFASA (it has gone back to assembling only Renaults which is how it started in the sixties.)
