Australia Hello from new member

Hi to all - I live in Melbourne, Australia and I purchased my 1st Toyota (AE95) about 6 weeks ago and have been very pleased so far. My AE95 is a 1991 model (A4FE engine), 5 speed with 224,000 klms on the clock with the interior and body in what I would call very good to excellent condition for a vehicle that is almost 20 yrs old.

For the past 14 years I have owned and driven 2 x Datsun 120Y's so with the move to the AE95 I feel like I am in a Limo (power steering, Air con, radio / cassette, EFI motor, electric mirrors, etc etc)
I want to keep my AE95 stock as my main requirement is to go to and from the train station on a daily basis and I want to keep this car in top mechanical condition. So far I have only had to change the thermostat and top tank in the radiator but unfortunately my mechanical skills are limited and I only have basic tools so I am dependent on a mechanic for most work

I had a big win on the weekend when I managed to clean my cold start injector (engine would have to crank from 5 - 10 seconds before starting on a cold morning) and so far all is well - now cranks for about 2 seconds before starting Advice for cleaning the cold start injector came from the 6th Generation (1988-1992) forum (thanks to SuLLiVaN88)
BTW - when I spoke to my local Toyota dealership about the cold start problem, they said that it is normal to crank the engine for 5 - 10 seconds when cold and that there was no problem

Next thing I need to do is find a replacement for my radio cassette as the current unit has a damaged LCD display. Although the unit works fine, it makes it hard to know what radio station I am on As I want to keep the car original, I will be seeking parts or a 2nd hand unit from the wreckers as opposed to installing one of the newer stereo untits on the market.

I am also considering running something like Seafoam (or similar) through the top of the engine (and inlet manifold) to clean any buildup that might be there but I need to do my homework to ensure that I do this correctly.

Anyway - thats about it from me - look forward to chatting further in the forums!
