Rhode Island 2000 Echo owner. Howdy.
Hi all, couple of posts in, so I thought I would introduce myself.
I have a four door, manual tranny, 2000 Toyota Echo named Morgan. She was purchased in Florida, and had subsequently joined us for our move to Rhode Island a couple of years ago. She has almost 150k miles on her and has been relatively hassle free.
The water pump went about half a year ago, that was an interesting thing to replace with snow on the ground, but I don't blame her for it, it could have been my inexpert belt replacement. Another symptom of that first belt change was me breaking my OCV. Only just noticed that recently due to me wanting to get her ready for her emissions test. Replacement got rid of most of the codes. It's funny, I drove this car for years without doing anything to her save oil changes and such, but, of course, as you start spending more time with her, you find more and more issues of concern. This despite the fact that she continues to be a trouble-free daily driver.
I'm a big fan of Japanese vehicles. My first car in South Africa (where I am originally from) was a Daihatsu Sirion. I believe they're partly owned by Toyota. Her name was Priscilla (Queen of the Desert) and she was fantastic. Parts were difficult to get for such a small car (1000cc and just 3 cylinders), but she was everything I could ever want, and I hated leaving her in Jo'burg.
That's it.
Cheers.
