1988 Cressida dripping oil?
Hello, This is a new site I just found, so I will see how it works out.
I have a 1988 Toyota Cressida that has 137,ooo miles on it. Not very many for an old vehicle. It is in very good conditition. But, it has started to drip oil from somewhere and a lot of it. I see some smoke burning out of tailpipe after I set at a light for a while. don't know if this is piston rings or valve guide seals? And when I park it and come back out later to drive away. Lots of oil on ground. Two quarts per two weeks.??? I can not find where the oil is coming from but it looks like it may be on the front right side. I have had the front cam seals changed along with timing belt etc. But I do know the rear cam seals have to be changed. But I do not think I am competent enough to know how to do that withou ruining my engine. I have changed the valve cover gaskets, but not the head gasket. I do not know where the oil sending unit is so I can not check to see if that is leaking. It smells very oily after I drive it and get it warm. I hate to see my Cressida failing like this. But, it will probably cost more to fix it than the car is worth. Can anyone help or explain what I should look for or do?
