Hello everyone.
I joined earlier this year after finding a lot of great info on my
GEN4 CAMRY LE here on TN.
I'm an old school car enthusiast from way back. I have owned some sporty two door cars in the past, but 5 years ago found myself looking for humble, economical transportation and zeroed in pretty quickly on a
CAMRY.
My first
TOYOTA was a 1979
Corolla Liftback and I drove the heck out of it for four years before trading it in on a 1983
TOYOTA 4WD pickup. I kept that truck for four years, too. Between then and now I picked up a late 80s 4WD pickup as a "winter beater" when I had a nicer sedan. I have always been impressed with each of my
TOYOTAs and have almost never been let down by any of them.
So I found this (Kentucky born)
2000 LE model for sale in 2005 at a FORD dealership. (4 banger with an automatic transmission, minimal power accessories, grey cloth interior, Cruise Control, no ABS) It had originally been a rental car (which explains a couple of cigarette burns) and then was driven by a family as a second car. The salesmen said it came to be traded in to their lot when the owner decided with winter coming on he would like to trade cars with his wife, so he could drive their 4WD SUV and she would have the
CAMRY. In preparation, he bought four new tires for the
CAMRY and then announced it was time for them to trade cars. She replied, well what if
I want to drive the SUV this winter??!!! After further discussion, it was decided they would trade the
CAMRY in for a new SUV for the husband to drive.
So I purchased the car with about 85,000 miles on it and have since accumulated 75,000 more miles. And I'm still loving this car.
The forums here on TN have helped me learn alot about my car and assisted me in several DIY situations.
Many thanks for this great website.
