3rd Generation Yo!

This site is awesome. I just bought my first non-clunker yesterday, which is a '06 Avalon XL. It has a little over 56,000 miles and was a one-owner corporate lease vehicle. I really hope that these are good cars because I need at least five years of service out of her. The car is Toyota Certified Preowned, so my powertrain warranty will last for about 4 more years/ 100,000. Anyways, thanks for reading!

to Toyota Nation, dudeman! I have a 2002 Avalon XL myself, which has given me stellar service. I think I can vouch how great of a car it is and that you should be able to get that five years of service out of your Avalon you're seeking. It's a great car, and when the time comes I'll probably replace it with another Avalon.

Thanks guys! I decided to get a Toyota because of their reliability and resale value. I just hope I don't experience any nightmares or horror stories during my tenure. I plan on getting it serviced at the dealer, as the car has been for all its life thus far. The only open recall on her is the brake one, which I will address in 400 miles at my next oil change. Also, the VVTI oil hose has been replaced a year ago with the "upgraded" rubber hose. Should I be worried about it? Again, thanks!

I would have preferred the hose had been replaced by a steel line, but the new rubber hose is a reinforced with mesh type so I wouldn't worry about it. Personally, I'd still suggest taking your car to a local mechanic if you can. Private mechanic are almost always cheaper than dealerships, and the work is also better. Ask around to friends and family, and hopefully you'll be able to locate a good one.

Welcome to the forums!

The Avalon sounds nice. Must be reassuring with the existing warranty too . I'm sure you'll learn a lot about it here at TN.

Happy motoring!
