Welcome to the community fellow 7th Gen owner!

There aren't too many hatchback owners here as that body style was only available in Japan and Europe. I should be able to help you with any questions you may have however, as there are plenty of AE101 hatchbacks here in New Zealand and I've got a Gregory's repair manual on them. The body is practically identical to the sedans and wagons, the only difference is from the rear doors back

I saw your other post that you made a few days ago asking where to get a performance exhaust system. You can get cat-back exhausts off eBay that bolt straight up to you Corolla (the exhausts between the sedans and hatchbacks should be identical). You can also buy a high-flow cat and a header/front-pipe off eBay too for a really good price. They're extremely popular among the 7th Gen Corolla owners and there's a lot of information about the various bits and pieces in the 7th Gen Corolla forum.

See you around

No problem . I recently fitted an aftermarket exhaust system to my 93' Corolla sedan and got a lot of rasp the first time around. I wasn't after the raspy sound though, so I experimented with a couple of different resonators in order to get rid of it.

Since you're after a raspy sound, put on a header, 2" exhaust piping, remove the catalytic converter if it's legal to do so where you live (this will causes lots of rasp when removed) and only install one resonator.

Here's a video of my Corolla sounded like after the initial install:

And here's what it sounds like now:

The sound you want to achieve ultimately comes down to the size of exhaust piping you use, the style of muffler, and how many resonators you install. Have fun!

Lol, thanks, a couple of people have said they liked how it sounded originally (with the rasp). I personally couldn't stand it because it was too much like a Honda in my opinion. I used a universal resonator (no brand name), it was 8-inches long and 2-inches in diameter. To get rid of the rasp I also added in a 10-inch long resonator which was 4-inches in diameter. Oh, and you're not being a pest, feel free to send me a PM if you have any further questions

. I remember we were discussing how the exhaust sounded after I got it installed. Thanks for your opinion back then by the way, it gave me extra incentive to throw a bunch more cash at it and get the sound I truly wanted
