Joined this forum to find out more about other folks experiences with a faulty ECM. I have a 2007 Corolla S 5 speed and have recently started having issues with it. After it is warmed up it shutters when taking off in 1st gear. I've been driving a stick shift since 1982 so it isn't user error.

From what I've read, it sounds like the ECM which is under recall.
Since I'm here, I might as well tell you that my previous car was a 1997 Corolla CE. I bought it new in 1997 and drove it until 2007 when it was totaled by a hit and run driver.

It was parked on the side of the road and no one was in it so all is well there. However, it only had 97,000 miles on it and I'd never had it in the shop for anything other than regular maintenance. Well, it did have to have a new arm on the rear axle because it was bent. I live in Colorado and took it some place it never should have been!
Even though Toyota has had some problems lately, I would buy another. My mom has a 1996 Camry with almost 300,000 miles on it. She's rarely had it in the shop and she plans to keep driving it. She is a home health nurse and uses it for work.
I hope Toyota can get these recent issues worked out and once again make the cars they did in the 90's.
