New member and owner!

hey guys, i love forums, they are way way better than face book or myspace.

i am a member of several forums, burmesepythonforms.com, sevenstring.org and jemsite.com. any way i look forward to meeting all of you and maybe a few of us share other forums

so we had a 94 ls2. the head gasget blew on it and the local toyota dealer was doing a "get your car to the lot and we'll give you 2500 down towards any new toyota" deal. so i left the car on (so it would stay running) and me and my wife very quickly decided to go to the dealership and swap it out. luckily we made the 16 mile drive and ended up in a 2010 corolla s 5 speed. we love it. i know that you are suppose to "break the engine in" by going the speed limit for at least 1000 miles, however; i was running late to work and ended up doing 80 for about 5 min. we have 289 miles on it. i was wondering if that would be really bad in the long run or is it really nothing to concern myself with as long as i dont do it again.

also we are wanting to go on a 2260 mile long trip in a week, can we do this if we do not exceed the speed limit or should we wait till the rings in the engine have had ample time to seat? this is my first car i have owned so i just don't wanna mess it up.

Welcome to the forums, and congratulations on the purchase of the Corolla!

The 10th Gen Corolla forum is extremely active, so I'm sure you'll be able to find the answers to any questions that you've got. There's so many interesting things to learn in there that you'll no doubt know your car inside and out in no time . Sounds like you're very used to the way forums work, but if you happen to have any questions about these forums, please don't hesitate to ask

Happy motoring, and enjoy yourself here at TN

I wouldn't worry in the least about harming that engine doing what you describe. Modern design and manufacturing have made extensive break-in a thing of the past. Avoid lugging (always) and sustained very high revs for a few hundred miles.
