Meet an unhappy owner - Beware Toyota Sienna Electric Doors!

We have owned Toyota's for almost 2 decades but after our experience with our Sienna, WE WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER TOYOTA AGAIN! These automatic doors are a joke, the motors are disposable, and the doors freeze up if the temperature is under 30degrees (which is common when you live in Michigan). It only takes a few keystrokes in a web search to see that hundreds if not thousands of Sienna owners with these doors are all having issues. There should be a recall on these doors however Toyota refuses to acknowledge the issue. Because they do not stand accountable we will NEVER purchase another Toyota. We stick by companies that stand accountable and hold high levels of integrity. This experience has soured our attitude and we hope others read the forums first before purchasing one of these vans. Never again Toyota! BUY HONDA!

I am sorry you're having so many problems with you Sienna

I work for a dealership in Wisconsin, where currently it is 15 degrees outside, and only one time have we had a problem with a Sienna's electric doors. It turns out the track was bent slightly.

Welcome to the forums. One of the reason I always purchase base models of any make or model is that I don't want or need all the bells, whistles, and gadgets that only add weight to the vehicle, and most of all are points of failure due to the motors and electronics. If you check out other vehicles with automatic doors, like the Honda Odyssey for example, and the internet is full of complaints about their automatic doors as well. As with any purchase, caveat emptor.

Sorry to hear about your problems. But you can't make a blanket statement saying that Toyota does not stand accountable for some of their products, it's simply untrue. Toyota offered a buyback at 1.5X KBB excellent value for 1995.5-2000 Tacomas and offered full frame replacement or frame rust undercoating for 2001-2004 Tacomas because of their frame rust issue. Those trucks that did pass a frame rust inspection had their frame rust warranties extended an additional 15 years. I'd say Toyota went far and beyond what most other car manufacturers would have done.

Once again, I'm sorry for the problems with your van and hope you can get your issues resolved amicably.
