3rd Generation Happy owner of 95 Camry w/ power steering leak

Hi guy's,

I own a 95 Camry LEV6 w/ 141K that I bought a year ago for $1500. I'm also a less than happy owner of a 06 VW Jetta and that's all I'm going to say about that. Other than some rust and a moderate leak in the rack and pinion the Camry has never let me down so far. Is it true I'm suppose to ATF fluid in the power steering system and not power steering fluid?

Thanks,
Wounded Iraq Vet

Hello and a warm welcome to a member who has served in the armed forces....

We've got a very large and active set of Camry forums here on TN, so you'll probably want to search the 3rd & 4th Gen Camry forum for an answer to your ATF question. The DIY sticky threads in that forum too have lots of useful links. Let me or one of the other staff members know if you have any questions about the forums, we'd be glad to help.

Yes ATF is the fluid to use. Ok if you had to choose between your 95 Camry and your 06 Jetta, What would you go with and why?

Definitely the Camry. The Camry is way more reliable, much easier to maintain, better build quality, fewer squeaks and rattles, and with a $50 head unit the factory speakers in my Camry puts the "Premium" sound system in my Jetta to shame. the only redeeming qualities the Jetta has are its sportier handling, good looks, and its much faster although the Camry is no slouch either. On top of all that I paid $1,500 for the Camry vs $24,000 for my Jetta GLI
