New here

Hello, just recently acquired a 2001 corolla CE, it's my daily driver, and even though it's a smaller and doesn't have the power of my first ride (1997 jeep Cherokee Sport 2wd), I like the body style and the fact that with $25 the tank is full and I can park it anywhere.

Anyways, I'm really new to owning cars as I've only have like 2-3 years of experience actually owning one, I'm currently in college studying mechanical engineering. Just a few days a go I pulled the the vavlve cover of to change the seal on it cause it was leaking and noticed that the previous owner had installed Bosch Platinum 4 point plugs, and just reading around the forum, I see the car requires iridium plugs, the plugs are almost new. My question is, is the performance of the engine heavily affected if I don't use the iridium plugs?

anyways, hope to learn some new things about my ride and enjoy this site which has a lot of good info.

I'd just use the Bosch's for awhile, it'll be ok. NGK's seem to do better in Toyota engines, but the Bosch's won't do any harm.
As far as the performance properties of the Bosch's, I think thats debatable.
Welcome to TNation.

to the community!

The 8th Gen Corolla forum is jam-packed full of information and knowledgeable people, so you're in good hands . I'd recommend checking out the DIY sticky thread at the top of that forum in particular, as it contains some useful links

Have fun on the forums!
