Hello, fellow Toyota enthusiasts.

My name is Rafael, and I hail from irritatingly humid island of Puerto Rico. This is the third Toyota I've owned (had an '89 AW11 and a '92 Terc). I'm normally a Nissan guy, but on the island Toyota is king.

Long story short, a little less than a year ago everyone at work knew I was without a car. At one point I heard someone was selling their car- an older coworker who bought himself a new small SUV. Now this guy is someone borderline O.C.D. People were interested before test driving the car. Why? Because immaculate doesn't even begin to describe this car. Anyway, I let him know I was interested but that I had to wait for a loan to be approved. "No problem. Still, the car goes to the first person with the money, though." "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!"

Fast forward two weeks later after and a ton of cars visited this one still had them all beat. Initially he was asked for 6K, but I told him I have only 5. He said it was fine, the car was as good as mine.

So here it is, a '99 Toyota Camry CE with 99K (was 88K when I bought it) miles and some change.

Those pics are a month or so old. Since then I've tinted it, replaced the dome light with an L.E.D. light (and I love it), cleaned up the headlights (they were yellow), did the regular oil changes, tune-ups, timing belt just recently, and a few other tweaks.

My aim is to keep the car as stock as possible, minus a few aesthetically pleasing changes. I've been looking around to see what wheels from the Toyota family would look better than the current Oreo steelies and plastic hubcaps. That and improve the gas mileage beyond the 25-27mpg I'm currently getting. Any input would be welcome and appreciated.

I look forward to reading and taking in as much as possible from everyone here.

Call me crazy, Rafael, but I love the heat and humidity...I grew up with it....

You've got a very clean Camry there, and you should be proud of the work you've put into it. I think you'll fit in nicely with our Camry crowd, no problem.

Welcome to TN!

That's a very clean looking Camry! Looks to be very well cared for. Good luck with your goal of keeping it as stock as possible, especially after you see the threads in the Camry forum! . There's loads to do here, so feel free to browse around and make yourself at home

Have fun!

I'm very proud considering this is the nicest car I've owned since my '95 Maxima back in my teenage days.

I've seen some threads and I've even saved some pics as wallpapers already. I'm not too worried, though. If I do mod anything, it'll be subtle. Like I said, I'm looking for gains in MPG more than anything else.

Some pics of the car I took yesterday after work.

That nasty little dent in picture three seemed to be the result of some douche in the parking lot at work about two or three weeks ago that couldn't load/unload something on/from their vehicle without enough caution as to beware of their surroundings.

And I love my TomTom GPS with its customizable goodness.

Also, what color would the car be considered. It's not really the gray I've seen posted in the threads, but it seems to be something of that color.

What are you going to do when you pass 100,000 miles?

I don't know. I kind of don't want to since it's a milestone for the car and I'd like to keep it young. Kind of like when you see a pup or an infant and think "too bad it can't stay like that forever."

Thanks for the welcome.

Can anyone tell me the category my car's color goes under? I'd say gray, but it's much lighter than those I've seen posted in that section.
