98 RAV4 EGR problems (P0401 code)
Hello, I have a 1998 Toyota RAV4 4x4 autotrans, 130K miles. I have had a check engine light and P04010 for 2 years. I recently replaced the evil EGR VSV behind the engine, replaced the EGR Modulator (PQR valve), and removed and cleaned my EGR Valve. I am still getting a P0401 code. I also replaced many of the vacuum lines associated with the EGR system. I tested the EGR valve by depressing the diaphram while the car was idling and it killed the engine - as I have read it is supposed to do if it is OK and not broken. I replaced the vacuum lines the way they were before I started, but I bought the car used and don't know if they were correct. I need an answer on the vaccum line routing to the VSV from the EGR Modulator and the EGR Valve. These 2 lines feed into the VSV. The VSV has a port on the end, in-line with the body, then another port coming out at a right angle near at the other end. I cannot find a diagram that shows which line feeds into the VSV on which port. I have found two diagrams online that contradict each other.
Any advice is wlecomed!
thanks
