2001 Sienna with 98K, no rust (bought in San Antonio, 2006). Has generally behaved and allowed me to do my own work, at least until the new career kicks in. Does have persistent P0420 code and probably needs ECM per TSB EG047-05. It's a puzzle, however, and not really addressed in all the posts I've read so far. So I'm going to seek the answer here ...
2007 Vibe (= Matrix = Gen 9 Corolla) with 32K. This recently got a new ECM under warrantee at Sweeney in Youngstown, before the formal recall ... excellent dealer. It had started stumbling and briefly losing power with P0303 code (#3 misfire) and sometimes P0353 code (#3 coil/circuit fault). Very scary on the highway! Checking circuits, swapping coils, etc., narrowed it down to the ECM (to my surprise). Freeze-frame code reader confirmed engine was shutting down to idle when the code(s) set. Been great since Sweeney's swapped in the new ECM, until ...
Now, only when stopped in D, the rpm is often dragged down briefly from ~800 to ~600 with no code. It does not ever happen when rolling or stopped in N or P. State of warmup, AC on, etc., does not matter. I am starting to wonder about torque converter clutch starting to grab when it should not. Have not fount that addressed exactly either, so I have another question to ask ...
