Hi all, my name is chris just thought I'd introduce myself as I'm new. Been a toyota fan all my driving life, from my first car, 1976 celica, to my 2010 toyota kluger that I unfortunately lost in a separation. Now I find myself in a zippy little 98 starlet, with plans on getting the most out of this little car. So look forward to chattin with some of you. Cheers!
Sorry to hear about losing your Kluger, Chris. If I lost my Highlander I'd probably cry because I like it so much. Anyway, you're among friends here on TN...welcome aboard!

What model of Starlet is it? The Glanza S or the Glanza V? My brother used to own a 96' Glanza V and it was a peppy little thing, especially for a 1.3L. Feel free to post pics of it sometime
Have fun on the forums!

I'm pretty sure its the v, but ill have to check now eh!
Yeah it goes alright atm, has extractors and a 2 inch exhaust through to a 3 inch tip, has been dropped on its ass so its like driving a go cart really. All done prior to me owning it, but I just wanna let it breath a little better, and get a bit more out of it. I owned a twin turbo supra a few years back, so I'm no stranger to the power of a good toyota, and whilst I know a starlet is no supercar, they are incredibly light, well balanced little cars to start with, so it should provide a lot of fun for what it is, whilst still being extremely economical to run! Ill get some pics up soon. Like the look of your ride too. Thanks for the reply!

I just noticed in your other thread that you said it has a bonnet scoop, so that would suggest that it's a Glanza V. The Glanza S had the non-turbocharged 4E-FE engine and the Glanza V had the turbocharged 4E-FTE engine. Is it a 5-speed or an auto? The mods that have been done to it sound exactly like what my brother had done. One of the best mods he did was add a rear swaybar and an OEM triangular boot brace (which are very hard to find nowadays). It felt like it was on rails after he had done that . Thanks for the compliment in regards to my ride . Looking forward to seeing the pics of your Glanza

Turns out its the 4E-FE, so the s. Maybe the previous owner had plans of putting a turbo on or something, hence the scoop. Either way ill continue with the pod install, obviously a shit load more involved in turboing this little sucker. Prob outside of my capabilities.
Thanks for the help, ill see how I go.

That's a shame. Perhaps the previous owner wanted to give the appearance of it being a Glanza V without the additional fuel costs involved with the turbocharged engine . Not to worry though. On a positive note, at least the air intake temperature will be a bit cooler as the 4E-FE's intake doesn't cross over the exhaust manifold. The increase in performance from the pod filter won't be as noticeable as it would be on a 4E-FTE engine, but it will still breathe a lot better than the stock panel filter
