Yota for years but new to the Nation

Hey everybody. I've got a 1991 Toyota Pickup thats been a great truck. Bought it 5 years ago from an old timer that had had it since new in '91. Garage kept with 50k mile on it. A beauty. Well maintained on the outside and so-so under the hood. I'm having some problems with it (only 70k original miles now) which stinks but I'm hoping to find a fix here. Never worked on vehicles before but I'm handy and am looking to learn. I can do the basics but the posts I read about throttle bodies and o2 sensors are like, huh? So I'm a novice with an engine idle problem that I'd like to fix myself. The truck idles at 2400 rpms for about 5 minutes steady. Then it drops to 1500 rpms and surges or bounces repeatedly from 1500 to 2000. Never dies just bounces the rpms, surge/drop, surge/drop, etc. Any ideas?

also..

I've done some research and have found various posts about vacuum leaks, mass air flow sensors, etc. and have looked into various diagrams to figure out what/where those parts are so I'm not crippled but want to know if anybody has seen this in particular before and could steer me in the right direction.

Thumbs up

Checked the forums and it's fixed! Needed to tweak the idle, took me a minute to fix. Thanks! Hopefully I'll learn a few things and can help somebody else and return the favor.
