Hello from the old fart

Well I just helped my daughter buy(1/2) of her first car a 96 Camry Collector Edition.
I'll be hoping to learn lots from you guys, as I'm sure i'm the one who will be doing all the work. Already got a bit of info here from old posts before i bought that was useful..
Very well taken care of mechanically and exterior with 100k miles.. Interior especially carpet could have been nicer but nothing that a good set of custom mats can't hide..and a huge day of scrubbing, polishing and shampooing.
A couple minor bumps bruises on exterior not to difficult to touch up, a steering pump and a fuel filler neck(never seen that go bad??) and she should be good for another 100k..
If i figure out how to post pics or a link I'll put some up from purchase day..

That's OK believe me.... I wasn't looking to set you up or pimp out my daughter...

Has anyone here still have one of these, in my colors? I have some touch up's I am going to do on the rear bumper and I've never done it on a pearl paint.
Micro finish in LA. is mixing up some factory match paint they will put into spray cans for the 2 colors...They tell me the upper body, Diamond White Pearl comes in a 3 part .. base/pearl/clear.. doesn't sound complicated but wonder if there are any tricks.... ??

I only know of one guy here that has that color combo. The only thing Id really worry about is the paint not exactly matching due to color fade. From what I understand the hardest thing with touching up with pearl paints is blending the color together. Im sure there is a science to getting the correct amount of mica dust in the paint but a slightly more or less will give you a different result. Lets just hope whoever is making the paint for you knows what they are doing. My suggestion would be to go easy on pearl coats. Letting it dry completely between coats. The more coats you apply the less transparent the paint will become. Apply light coats until you get your desired effect. Hope this helps a little.

Sounds good then. I just figure the pearl will be tough to get right but Ive never used it for touch ups. Good luck let us know how it turns out.
