New Member with a `91 Tercel
I just got a `91 Tercel for $500. It has a 1500 enginewith a Manual 5-speed. It sat for about 10+ years at my father-in-law's neighboor's house. I have spent $300 on it to get it into driveable condition. New used fuel pump assembly, Tires, Rotors, and scavanged parts from a local boneyard (and many late weekends and evenings) has brought this 20 year old car back on the road. It has a CV joint or Tranny chatter and likes to pop out of 5th gear every once and a while, but that is all that I have had trouble with from this car. I am not a mechanic, but I have many other people and the net to thank for helping me figure out all the repairs and methods to get it up and running again. It amazes me that this car was left to probably end up in a junkyard. After 10+ years of sitting and someone taking the time to go through it and fix it, it turned into a pretty good driver for me to commute to work with. Toyota should have stuck to this design and not let it expire.
