Greetings from the Pacific Northwest!

Hello Fellow Toyota Enthusiast,

I would like to introduce myself to the forum. I currently own a 1998 Avalon. It is a great car that is surprisingly easy to work on. I also plan on buying a 1994 Corolla. I really like that body style. The dependability and economy of that car is hard to beat. I hope to get valuable insights from this forum. I'm sure all of you have come across a problem that the manuals do not address. Experience is the best teacher. All helpful comments will be welcomed. I hope to pass on any insights to others I might have.
Thanks!

Hello, welcome aboard the forums! I agree about the Avalon, mine is reliable as anything and fairly easy to work on, although getting that oil filter off the first time I changed the oil left me......for the better part of an hour. I can laugh about it now....

Thanks Traildust,
I know exactly what you mean about the oil filter. The first time I changed the oil it was a bear to remove. I now make sure to lube the ring and make sure not to over torque the filter. If I could only figure out how to keep the oil from making a mess when I pull the filter off.

I bought an extra wide bucket and trust a lot in my rubber gloves.... Definitely no easy way to do it cleanly with the Avalon's configuration, but I've dealt with worse so I take it in stride now. Have you had any significant issues with your Avalon during the years you've owned it?

Nothing major. The only thing I have noticed is that I have to add coolant every so often. I can't seem to find a leak or any puddles under the car. Perhaps I have a pinhole leak somewhere while the engine is running?
