Canada Hi from long term Toyota owner

I've been monitoring this site for a couple of years and decided it was time I became engaged in some way. My first Toy was a new 85 Corolla that I traded with 147k km because, being a former GM guy, I thought it was getting worn out, despite never having had it in for any repair work. Since then I've had 4 Camrys (2010 LE 4 at present), 2 Tacomas and 2 Highlanders (2009 AWD V6 at present). Except for the Corolla (and the current Camry and Highlander), I've never put less than 300K km on any of these vehicles with very few problems. The 94 Camry had 494K km on it and the next owner took it to 518K before he wrecked it. Gotta love Toyotas!!!

Hope I can contribute to the Camry and Highlander forums!

I'll be seeing you in the 2nd Gen Highlander forum as I'm a Highlander owner as well. Welcome to Toyota Nation!

Welcom to the Nation May I ask do you use synthetic or just cheap stuff in your Toyotas?

Canada Welcome!

Welcome!
I am looking at 2009 Highlanders these days myself (hoping to own one in the future).
Maybe you can give me some pointers.

I've considered using synthetic but have relied on good quality regular oil over the years. Change it regularly and always replace the filter. I may try the new 0w20 synthetic to see what it does for gas milage.

Check out the 'Why a Highlander' thread in the 2nd Generation Highlander Forum. You'll find some excellent rationale for buying a Highlander including some of my reasons.

I went to mobil one 0w20 and didn't really notice much improvement if any. I think I actually got better mileage using the Toyota full synthetic but that was $11 a quart and I have used mobil one exclusively in everything for years so I switched.
