USA 1992 Project

Hi I have acquired my daughers 1992 camry she has had through her college years. She moved on to another car and parked the camry. She had a guy wanting to buy it but would only give her a couple hundred bucks for it.Interior, body are in great shape..mechanical..so-so.I told her to get more money for the car,he wanted to steal it.Needless to say I told her not to sell it I'll take it to my place. Having over the course of two years of garage logic replaced brakes, struts, radiator, water pumper, timing belt, thermostate, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, tires, detailed, and I am driving it @ 211,000 mile.Still getting 22.5 mpg around town. One of the better looking 92 out there!
OK so now I need the forum..The tranny doesn't want to upshift, when cold but with some warming up shifts some what ok.Now I have a temp sensor...should have replaced it when i did the thermostat..but am going to see if this cures my problem. My main question is this..does this car have the a40 series tranny with the check ball problems?

to Toyota Nation! The owners in the Camry forums should be able to help you out with the tranny and temperature issues. It's a great car, well worth the effort.

All the Gen 3's I've owned do that....its normal. Suppose to help with engine warm up IIRC.

Even my 09 Corolla does that. I've been told it's a feature to save the tranny from possible issue while shifting cold. Once it warms it, it will shift. Just take it easy until she is warmed up.

oh... and
