New here, might buy an AE92 real soon

Hey everyone, for the last year or two I've been eyeing an old AE92 near my Uncle's house. It used to be his, then he sold it to a neighbor who intended to give it to his son. Problem is, the kid somehow ended up getting in enough trouble to result in him never being able to get a driver's license again. No idea what happened there, but I didn't ask. Now the AE92 is just taking up space in his driveway, and he wants it gone. Asking price is $500, and it needs a clutch, a little a/c work, and some rust/body work.

I ended up with a non-complete stop ticket a month ago so I have money saved up for that, and if all goes well the judge will let me off with a warning since it's my first offense and I'll be able to put the money towards this car.

My main reason for buying it is the fact that my '96 Buick LeSabre Custom is...dying. I need a more reliable car and I figure why not go for something a little more fun than a Buick? (Although the 3800 Series II engine is a lot of fun all by itself)

I hope to stay around here for a while and use it as a place to find advice on the work I will inevitably have to do with this older car and to use as a place to show it off once it's done

By the way, I figure I should add some pictures...

Hi, Paul, welcome aboard the forums!

For $500 you've got yourself a good daily driver once you put a little more work into it. Who knows, you may be with us for many years to come?

Thanks everyone! I was browsing the forums a lot last night and I have all kinds of plans for this car >

I've always wanted a Pontiac Fiero, but those aren't too easy to find in good condition, and especially not for $500! Maybe one day I'll even end up with a 60's era Land Cruiser, my friends uncle has one and it's just amazing.

I'll definitely keep everyone updated on this project assuming I actually get it, and I hope to stay around here for quite some time
