Hey everyone. My name is Wes and I own a 1999 Avalon that just broke 200k miles. I've only been driving it a few months; it was an unfortunate series of events that worked out in my favor. I got rear-ended in my '96 Chevy Cavalier, which ended up totaling it, giving me exactly enough to buy the Avalon from my wife's step-mom, and also buy a treadmill for my wife

Upgrade the car - upgrade the wife?
I'm a pretty green DIYer, and had basically replaced a clutch master cylinder on the cavalier, before getting this car and doing the brake pad replacement on it. I have a buddy who is a mechanic, and he has really shown me that the most important part of working on cars (aside from safety, etc) is just getting in there and doing it. Naturally I won't touch anything without studying up on it, which is how I came upon TN. So I don't plan a whole bunch of mods or repairs, but I'm looking at changing a timing belt and water pump pretty soon here. I hope the forums in place here are going to help me keep this car for a very long time!
