Intro & hello
I wanted to say a quick hello to all. I'm needing to do some maint. on a 1990 Toyota 4X4 Pickup that I bought for my son, and wanted to get some info before diggin into the projects.
I bought a brand new 1989 Toyota 4X4 DLX Pickup and had it until about 2000. It was a great truck and my first ever brand new vehicle. I regreted two things about that truck... one, that I didn't buy the extra cab (stupid kid move, I thought it was too much money) and that I ever traded it in on a car for my wife (dealer didn't give me hardly any $ for it).
My neighbor needed some cash two years ago and I bought my son a 1990 4X4 Pickup for a reasonable price. It's got almost 200K on it but it's still running strong and basically a good little beginner truck for a kid who will most likely wreck it at some point. Much to my suprise my boy doesn't have any desire to learn to drive. He just turned 20 years old last week and I finally dragged him out for his first official driving lesson last weekend. I just don't understand why anyone wouldn't want the freedom associated with having a drivers license???
I decided about a year ago that if he wasn't going to drive it I would. I commute about 2 miles a day round trip and I can drive the pickup forever for about $20. If it weren't for all of the darn rain here in Oregon I would walk more but who want's to show up for work in the dark and wet too.
I really enjoy driving the Toy, it's really stock... manual everything including steering. I replaced some of the front end cosmetic stuff since it had rear ended another vehicle. Again, since it was for my boy I figured he'd do the same sooner or later anyway.
Thanks for all of the great advice and info that I've already gleaned from this site.
Thanks again.
