New User from the Sooner Nation! 87 Camry Wagon AC issues ....

Not sure how much posting I will be doing here, but I have enjoyed gleaning over info that will help me keep my pristine 87 Camry Wagon rolling along.

I was fortunate to find this car in February with only 99K on the odometer -- garage kept and one owner -- with all of the service records.

But, alas, things are happening now. I'll post those to the general forum.

I would really like to get info on A/C issues in this model. It gets damned hot in Oklahoma (it's about 100 degrees today, and humid). When I purchased the car, the A/C was working, albeit not as cold as I thought it should be, but working. Then it stopped cooling in June. The LED never did flash like I have read that they do. I took it to my regular mechanic who warned me that he only did recharges on A/C units -- no repair. We thought she might just be a little low on freon. Well, she took two cans, and three days later the LED starting flashing and the A/C quit running. Today, I kicked on the A/C and heard the compressor kick on for about 2 seconds, and then stop. Just blew hot air.

So, before I blindly go sinking a lot of money into the A/C, can someone throw me a few pointers or suggestions? I've read it could be as simple as a fuse or the high pressure switch locking down because of too much or too little freon.

Thanks everyone!!!
