Hi guys. As per the rules, I am posting my ME/MINE/MODS thread.

I currently have a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme daily driver and a 1986 AE86 that I just recently purchased for use as my weekend autocrosser. It needs a bit of work, but it should be a decent autocrosser for somebody like me who can only work on the starving college student budget.

As far as mods, well... the previous owner installed some power windows in the 86 with some really ghetto-ass switches mounted on the dash. (The AE86 didn't come with a factory power windows option, did it?) Also, a moderate portion of the interior is missing, but I guess we can just consider that a "race stripping" mod.

So far the planned mods are just the basics, nothing too extreme. I'm just planning shocks, springs, cat-back exhaust, a few air fresheners, and the missing pieces of the interior, assuming I can find those parts.

The only pictures I have so far are the two I took before I purchased the car, but the only thing different with the car between now and then is the yard it's parked in and one of the tires has gone flat. Unfortunately the beer cans didn't come with the car. :wink: Anyway, I plan to take many more pictures of the car as work on the 86 project continues.

Next step: getting a plate so I can drive the car to the damn tire shop.

Welcome! From the pics your 86 looks like its in great condition! Most 86s up here in Canada are rust buckets :cry:

Heh. It looks like it's in good condition now, but we'll see how it look after hurricane Lili hits Louisiana this week. I haven't been able to register the car yet due to some issues with the title and I can't drive the car to higher ground without a plate. :-? Here's hoping for the best...

Here's to hoping the sandbags keep that thing dry. I drove to New Orleans in my '89 GT-S back in '91. Man, now I know what they're saying when they talk about Louisiana rain! The irony in low country there is that there were so many slammed pickups! It was unreal! Up here all those Corollas disintegrate around the wheel lips and arches (and many places you can't see.) Those alloys on your car look to be very salvageable, especially compared to the road salt derelicts we get up here in the rust belt. There's a rusty '87 GT-S liftback down the street from me that get driven every day. My '89 has survived due to 1/month waxing, annual rustproofing & oil spray. It's brutal. Don't ask what it does to the 4-wheel disc brakes on these things (mine work great because I'm a fastideous nutcase).
