Hybrid Turbo idea questions.

First and foremost all money aside. In other words, lets say I had 15k to spend on the car, and another 15k to spend on this idea.

Would it be possible?

To have a 1.5l DOHC enging that gets good mpg (like the yaris enging) hooked up to a turbo that can be "on or off"?

Meaning that after I do all the work with the springs, valves intake, exhaust manifold, intake manifold, etc. etc. Can I put a turbo on the car that only boost say,.... 8 psi (the highest you can boost with stock injectors). And have a boost controller with a switch, 8psi or 0psi. Is this feesable?

Basically, I want a car that can run the quarter mile really really well (solo 2 maybe?) and still can get 36mpg. Boost set to 0psi? blow off valve set to open? Whatever

inputs?

Call me dumb is this isnt workable, just keep in mind that money is no object.

I see that money isn't a option..
Your best be is to trade the yaris in and get a older Prius and turbo that. It cost about $10,000 alone just for the hybrid system. Yet you have to do labor, which probably cost up a arm a leg, and a huge headache.

Well this will start you off....
The turbo to use imo is the CT-26 from a supra or MR2, custom manifold and maybe add like a 2.0 inch mandrel bent exhaust, 2 inch catback downpipe, a fuel pump. etc....

Well I guess the title was midleading. I talked to the guys over at yarisworld.com and they filled me in on some misconceptions I had about turbos.

Apparantely what I want is just a regular turbo setup on the 1.5l (41MPG) yaris enging. Also an ECU (piggyback?) that dosent kick in the boost untill 3k rpm. This means that normal daily driving (sub 3k rpm) will keep me above the 35mg mark that I want. Even with bigger injectors etc. I should get that at least. Then when I want the extra.....??? 70 HP ??? I just floor it.

170hp
170lb TQ
<2200lb curb weight
>35mpg average
____________ =
fun cheap daily driver.

Ok, I thought you wanted a hybrid, hybrid turbo lol.

Yes this is possible.

A greddy emanage should work. Upgrade injectors to about 370cc. The yaris alone has good fuel going in and out of the engine, so no need for a fuel rail... Turbokits.com is your best bet. !! http://www.turbo-kits.com/yaris_turbo_kits.html.. Oh yea, you can get around 45mpg with this setup, if you stay out of boost once in a while...!! If you know what I mean...
