Exclamation Circle Track Racer Needs Toyo Nuts!

Hey there boys and girls, Well im putting together a circle track car a 77 Toyota Corona, currently it has a 20R engine in it, but i gotta pull that out and rebuild it. But at the time being Im building a 22R (Pre 84 block) with 20R Head. Now we cleaned it at +.030" What would you suggest so i can go fast and spank the pintos?

I am under Nascar Regulations and they state;

-Maximum displacement is 2550 CC's (including wear), Can not exceed 10.00-1 Compression.

-OEM Stock and Hyperutectic pistons only (I got Kb-Sivolite Hyper. Replacement).

-Maximum Cam Lift measured at the valve is .480".....What type of cam should i go with?

Now what can i use, what do you recommend? The block cleaned at .030 and needs to be decked, havent gotten it decked just yet were waiting on the pistions. How far should i go on Head CC's to know what compression ratio i will have, I want to go as close as possible to 10.00. I can not port or polish heads, Basically everything is stock... Please help

What circuit are you racing, that says alot of what you can and can not do. And saying your racing by NASCAR reg really does not say much sorry, especially ince they want to put big o'le wings on the cars like the old Daytonas on the cars now.

First tng to do is obviosly lighten the car as much as possible without going under the weight limit. go with lighter pulleys, flywheels anything you can lighten. if anything make sure you lighten the Crank pulley for each pound you loose, is roughly equal to gaining 2.75 more hp. Not oly that you will be able to rev faster and get through your gears faster.

That is another thing you may also want to look at is timing and changing your gear ratio.

Like I said earlier, it all depends on the curcuit your running.

Also if it is possible, since port and polishing is not, you may want to try swapping heads, for our Midget program we was running a few years back we had a slighyl modified V8 head on a 4 banger engine ale TRS USA.

Also since you are grassroots, you may want to try to get in touch with Tom O'Connor at Toyota Motorports/TRD for a Contengicy Sponsorship
