OT: Boat Capsizes in Hudson River; Fair and knowledgable reporting
Widely reported that the "chairs" in the boat were NOT attached to the
boat. Heard it on NBC and CBS at least, and on radio too.
NTSB investigator inturrupted the guy taking Matt Lauer's place (And doing
a vey good job of it, if you catch my drift...) and told him the seats
were in fact bolted to the boat and that the reporting of them not being
attached was false!
Just another day in the accurate reporting of the news!

It's getting harder and harder to believe anything coming out in the
news anymore. It seems rumors are what makes news and sensationalism
is the order of the day. Whatever happened to journalistic
investigation?

The very same thing that's happened to our 'leadership': they don't give a
crap about doing a good job or even doing the job they were hired to do at
all. It's all about power and money and religion - in about that order. If
you're looking for a single word, 'incompetence' fits.

I caught that. I hardly ever tune into 'Today' but did this morning.
He is a total ass and got his ass handed to him on a silver platter!
Dick Gregory is the cat....me thinks. He is the same one Bush put
down for being an ass earlier...

Our local paper reported 21 drowned, while the graphic right next to the
story said 20 drowned. Since I have more time to listen to the news, I hear
a lot of stuff that is not true and a lot of hearsay (especially in the New
Orleans reporting). Sometimes you will see a jet on tv with the sounds of a
propeller driven plane and vice-versa.

No matter what happens someone will find a way to take it too seriously.

Yes, that description fits the media very well.

To say nothing of the FACT that the accident actually took place in upstate
New York on lake George, not on the Hudson. ;)

You mean the conservative media? Or when you finally learn the media is
generally conservative will you change your mind?

What have you been smoking? Are you comparing the media to sites like
MoveOn.org and Slate?

I'd be more worried about the fact that there was only the Skipper
on board and no other deck hands at all. That the people in charge of
the tour group LET the skipper take them out alone. And that the
local officials just now figured that out. Anything can go wrong -
like an engine fire - and there has to be at the least a second person
on board to handle the crisis while the Skipper remains at the helm.
And if you have a bunch of invalid people on board, you are supposed
to have them put on their life vests before you pull away from the
dock. It takes long enough for able bodied people to do it in a
crisis situation.
Oh well... No brains, no headaches.

Yeah, but they don't let that slow them down at all.
And heads didn't roll at CBS because the News staff was Conservative...
