That's it, they are protecting themselves. Yeah, they like protecting you
and I, but they want you and I to come around with our wallet open to buy
more of their stuff. If we likk ourselves first, then they just lost a
potential customer.

Interesting!...how do you figure that?...I'm very interested in
safety features, so that's why I ask...if you can convince me
that your reason is sensible then I'll follow suit...

I did take the bother to look upstream only to find this answer.

In one breath you assert that "seat belts are a good thing"
(which, of course, they are) THEN you say the following:
