ETHICS -- IRAQ AND KATRINA HAVE MADE CHENEY RICHER: In 2003, Vice
President Cheney asserted, "Since I left Halliburton to become George
Bush's vice president, I've severed all my ties with the company,
gotten rid of all my financial interest. I have no financial interest
in Halliburton of any kind and haven't had, now, for over three
years." That wasn't true in 2003, and it's not true now. In 2003,
Cheney still received deferred compensation from the contracting
behemoth and possessed more than 433,000 stock options. Those options
were worth $241,498 a year ago; they now are worth more than $8
million. With Cheney in office, Halliburton has received more than $10
billion for work in Iraq and received one of the first no-bid
contracts for work in the Gulf Coast.

Non responsive and non sequitur.
He said he severed ALL FINANCIAL TIES.
Stock options are a financial tie.
And he was influential, at the very *least*, in Haliburton getting the
contracts. Which made the stock go up.
Is this too hard for YOU (and the SiF-Troll) to comprehend?
Or are trite responses all you guys can come up with when facing
issues that make you look bad ?

Idiot. Could the fact that the stock went up have something to their
no-bid government contracts?

RTFQ: He SAID, Justify This. So, I justified it!
Ever see the Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy? Sometimes if it's not the
answer you want, maybe it was the question you asked.
Merely pointing out absurdity by being absurd.
Now, all fun and games aside, who were we GOING to give the contracts for
Iraq to? There are only two other companies in the world that do what
Haliburton does: one in France (can't remember) and one in Germany
(Schlumberger). Yeah, let's give THEM the contracts.

1. See my response to Ditzy
2. I really DON'T care! It doesn't matter to me. Better Haliburton than a

How about New Orleans. Local contracters got screwed with
no chance to bid on contracts while Bush hurried up to
give Haliburton and other cronies no bid contracts.

How about Bechtel?
You don't see any hypocrisy here, with the Republican VP having an
apparent conflict of interest? It looks to me like a bunch of fat-cat
war profiteers at Halliburton are getting rich at the expense of the
American taxpayers, and the right-wingers is here come back with crap
like "the libs all upset cause people make money".
You realize that people like myself have been saying all along that
this war is about oil and money, not human rights and imaginary WMD?
This is not a joke, this is serious business. People are dying by the
thousands, and hundreds of $billions are being wasted.

All honesty? Not real happy about it, but don't really know enough about
it. I DO know they have been chasing it for 6 years now, and NOTHING has
come of it. Waiting for the Future to show us what History knows...

i did not like Saddam hussein, and saw him as a serious threat to the US.
Glad he's gone (he's getting ready for trial, BTW) The method may not have
been right, but the result is good.
