All the mpg figures in their articles use Imperial gallons, which are not
the same as U.S. gallons.

Interesting site. But so much depends on the driver. In the same RAV4
on the same roads, my wife gets 24 mpg city and I get 28 mpg city. This
car does not see much highway driving, but that would be interesting to
compare as well. The gas mileage is calculated the old fashion way -
miles on tripmeter divided by gallons of gas at fillup.
