As I watch Dick lay that wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier...
I'm thankful this is another quiet day off work for me in the safest
and most honorable country in the world.

Thank you for your kind words. This is the best post you have ever
made.

We did indeed - I'm grateful that I served during peace time, but of course
the specter of war was hanging over me. I can't even imagine being active
duty right now!
Today will go down as one of the most memorable veterans days of my life. I
got to see and hear the President at Tobyhanna Depot, shook his hand and
spoke with him for a few seconds. He thanked me for my service during WW II
and I told him I believe what he is doing to protect our country today is
far more important than my small contribution at that time. He smiled,
nodded and walked on.

I thank you as well Mike Hunt. My father also served in WWII.
It was a noble cause. You are all heros in my book.

My hat's off to you, Mike, and to all war vets, but especially to WWII
vets, since it was a war that changed the face of the earth, and could
have done so in a quite different way. Thanks, and thanks to ALL vets,
those who fought, and those who were ready if needed.

No shit,
All respect to the WW2 vets, as they do in fact deserve it.

MY father was a WWII veteran and I served during peace time post Viet
Nam. My dad was awarded the bronze star and he worked at the TOBYHANNA
ARMY DEPOT in TOBYHANNA , Pa. and retired from there.

In such a beautiful thread as this, you have to go and spew your
venom?!?
I believe him. I've read Mike long enough to know he may be full of it
sometimes, but more often than not, he knows what he's talking about.
He's walked the walk, and talked the talk for so long, I believe him.
That you keep nipping his heels because he top posts and had used off
color monikers is what is trollish. You need to "step down" and quit
playing the idiot.
I guess you caught me, but gee after all I thought a guy that believes Bush
never won the Presidential elections, never served in the NG, that he lied
to the Congress that had the same facts in front of them, believes
everything that comes from moveon.org, the Deaneacks and the DNC, that cuts
in tax rates do not help the economy when the facts are there to see, the
recent tax cuts went only to the rich, that SS is not in trouble, believes
global warming will be the end of the world, Toyota never made a bad car,
Carter was our best President, Iraq never had WMDs, is not part of the world
wide war on radical Islamic terrorist, and believes that his posts is so far
out that he even calls himself DIZZY, Moron, Idiot, Stupid etc on
occasion........would believe anything he reads on the net. LOL

All who served this country at anytime, deserve our respect. Thos that have
never served have not concept of combat. Without the military you might be
speaking German or Russian or being blown up on your main street today by
some radical nutcase When I see any military people at airports I salute
them and a tear comes to my eye.
