It's precisely in the name of "equal treatment" that immigrants are asking
what they're asking. We may be reaping what we sewed. I know this is all
debatable.

Sure but they were here before us and we took everything they had. The
problem lies in the fact that, now, they want the cake and eat it too.
Here in Canada, we had made them dependant on the welfare system. Many of
them never knew anything else before so, then again, we reap what we sewed.

If they want to be treated equally, then they should NOT be looking for
special treatment just because of their ethnic background. A lot of
minorities who squawk about allegedly being discriminated against have
only themselves to blame for demanding such special treatment--case in
point, those Muslims demanding that "Shariah" be legalized here.

I see good points on both sides here, but I think it's way too easy to say,
"Well, since I'm a minority, I won't bother to try to take care of myself."

I refused to do that, and have never regretted it. Interestingly, my
husband had help with his early college tuitions simply for being the son of
Polish immigrants - but instead of looking for handouts, he was working
toward his future, which as some of you know, is quite successful now.
That's how it's *supposed* to be.

I agree with you. You've heard the saying: "some are more equal than
others". I think many demand to be.
