This is not a regular joke for today, but sometimes real life is even
funnier. This is a true story of what's happening in my house these
days.

There is a children's show on television called "Thomas the Tank
Engine" where there are railroads and trains that are used to tell
amusing stories for little kids. Here is a link if you are interested:

My nearly three-year-old son loves this show and has several of the
tracks and engines for playthings around the house. Each engine has a
name and a face and of course the most popular one is Thomas. One of
the other engines is named Percy.
Lately my boy has taken a liking to the engine named Percy and has been
asking for it incessantly. Since he just started talking he hasn't
quite mastered the complete alphabet and has trouble making the "r"
sound. When he says "I want Percy, I want Percy, I want Percy" the "r"
sound is completely silent. Needless to say, I am quite proud of him!

Ahhh thats great, I love three-year-old stories. My daughter will be 4
on February 2, and its so sad.. I want her to stay three forever. She
still looks at me and her Mommy like we can do no wrong, which feels
pretty good after a day in the rat race.
Here's a cute one... when my daughter Kieran first started talking (oh,
she was about 18 months or so) she loved this book by Maurice Sendak
called "In The Night Kitchen".
Well, she called it "In The Night Chicken". Oh man, that was cute.
Well, we were headed back from Richmond one night... and we went
through the McD drive-thru to grab some food... asked Kieran what she
wanted, and she says, "I WANT NIGHT CHICKEN NUGGETS!"
Oh, and she called jeans "jeams", and she says "nuse" (hard u) instead
of "use", and she says "benembuh" instead of "remember".
Despite this, she knows all of her dinosaurs ... she surprised me the
other day by bringing me one of her dinosaur books and pointing one
out... "Look Daddy, this is a pentaceratops!" and she said it
correctly!

My kids liked that too! I think my 15-year-old still has it. She wouldn't
let me pitch any of the Sendak stuff.[color=blue]

Right there with ya - the 'night chicken nuggets' reminded me of Katie at
about 4 years old. She loved the Foreigner song, "Juke Box Hero" - which we
thought was cool, but then one time she kept singing the chorus after the
song finished, and we realized she was saying, "*Juice* box hero!" She
liked the song for another reason entirely - it was about juice boxes!
hehehe
But my favorite young Katie story is when she was 5: She was telling me
about this boy named Nick (Most people call him "Bud") that she was going to
marry when she grew up. About three weeks later, she was telling me she was
going to marry a kid named Christopher. I asked her what happened to Bud,
and she replied, "Oh he'll be my *ex*-husband."
LOL
You should have seen her eyes when I said, "So you think Daddy is only my
first husband?" That was the end of that.

What is it with kids and McDonalds. Amazing, my 3 year old daughter asks for
McNuggets too. Very cute.

Evil republicans. You may know that McDonalds Inc. is an avid
supporter of the Republican party, notwithstanding the politically
correct decorations they put on their recycled product bags.

My daughter won't let us call her "cute" anymore. Whenever we do she
reminds us,
"I'm not cute. Babies are cute. I'm not a baby anymore."

It's damned smart advertising and 'Image Projection'...they're a
very successful business enterprise, they take much pains with
their 'Image', to come across as a friendly clean enterprise.
My wife's in senior management (been with them for over 30 years
now) so I see lot's of evidence of that.
There's very few of the young people in this small city who
hasn't started out there, and been the better for it.

My daughter won't let us call her "cute" anymore. Whenever we do she
reminds us,
"I'm not cute. Babies are cute. I'm not a baby anymore."

I worked at McD's from age 14 through high school. Worst effing job I ever
had! It took my first pregnancy (And a craving for Big Macs) to get me back
there. I still prefer Wendy's.
McD's treats their teen help like crap - at least they did in the US (I've
heard horror stories from everyone else I know who has worked there)
