UPDATE to New to me Corolla

This is the message I originally posted:

My parents have decided that my s/o and I need a second car and have bought
me (us) a 1996
Corolla DX. 68K miles on odometer.

My questions are these.

Is this a good buy for US$5600 ?
Is this a reliable car?
Any issues I need to be aware of?

Vehicle has NO rust. Looks to be in VERY good shape.

TIA

I need to correct the year. It's a 1993 NOT a 1996.

All other information is the same.

dude, $5600 is waaaaaaay too much for a 13 year old car even for a
Corolla...but that's my opinion of course...however, it is a good car and
good for at least 200K miles more if taken care of properly.

Re: UPDATE to New to me Corolla

$5600 for a 93 (not even a 96)? 3 years ago I sold a perfect '93 Camry Le
with sunroof, 5 new Michelin tires and 92k miles for $3900. Was in mint
condition with new struts, timing belt and brakes. Your parents are paying
way too much. Its worth maybe $2k at most.

Heck. I gave away an old '96 Saturn SL2 for $500 (no dents and good paint)
except it was high mileage, used oil (typical Saturn) and had some problems
growing in tranny land.
Also, gave away "free" to Goodwill a old Chevy Lumina owned by some little
old lady (me '92 year old mom) that was covered in assorted dents and
colors. Low mileage (35,000 miles). They had a "For Sale" sign on it for
$4500 (Good luck!) last I looked. Too bad the oil was original too. Little
old ladies have their vehicles under the lowest of priorities. ;o)
