DTC code P0420 for 1996 CAMRY

I have a P0420 code for 1996 camry. The code reads 'Catalyst efficiency
below threshold (bank 1)'. How many Three way catalytic converters are
there for 1996 camry. Mine 4 cylinder 2.2l (5S-FE). I read in
alldatadiy.com, that there will be two catalytic converters for this
model. If yes, then which one do you think failed. Is it the front
converter (at the start of exhaust) or the rear converter?

JSB.

A more likely cause is that the O2 sensor after the second cat is marginal,
giving bad signals. Luckily, an O2 sensor is a lot less than a catalytic
converter.
