Damn. Another liberal dumbass that just doesn't get it. Toyota workers
are getting bonuses because people are buying Toyotas. . . . People aren't
buying General Maintenance or Fix Or Repair Daily machines. The
marketplace has gotten tired of repair-shop queens. Life has gotten too
busy to have two cars just so one can be in the shop all the time.
(Actually I think the second car company stands for F***d Over Rebuilt
Dodge, myself. I've got a friend who has a Fart Escort and it has been in
the shop more in the past 6 months than out, and it's not that old. It's
been in for tranny repairs (4 times) Water pump (once) and fuel line
rupture. Truly they are finding the parts that are surviving and
building them cheaper, and this is what you get. . . .)
I could have sworn we won WWII, but from the compacency of our manufacturers
you would have swore they won . . .

I fully understand why Toyota is doing so well, but why does that makes you
happy?
As for not getting it, why don't you get your head out of the seventies and
look at up to date reliabilty
ratings of American cars. They actually are not too bad, and many are ahead
of most Japenese cars.

Maybe in the short term. But Toyota and Honda continue to rank ahead of the
big 3 in long-term reliability (5+ years).

I agree with you on this one, neocon dupe. I'd like to see him prove
this one.

Reading the actual article proves why the "score" doesn't mean diddly.
Basically, the Big 3 make SOME cars that are OK in 3-year quality, but they
also make some cars that are cr*p. Add that to their long history of making
cr*p and that the fit and finish tends to make them look like they still
make cr*p, you're better off buying a car made with true pride by Americans,
i.e., Toyota or Honda.

Your post makes no sense. The article shows that American cars
are not as bad as the perception, and that many are actually
better than Japanese cars. It also shows that a lot of Japanese cars are
crap too. Your post just shows your pre-conceived opinions, void of fact.
I like my Toyota's, but they have their share of fit and finish problems.
I had to take my Sienna back to get molding fixed, and the Dash board
replaced because they never tightened up a screw and it created a huge bump
in the dash.
I also had to take it in three times for Rattles which never have been fully
fixed.
I also had to have the Transmission replaced at 65K. I had to take
my Echo in about 5 times for Rattles, Even had to contact Toyota to complain
before the would actually get serious and fix them, and by 35K I also had to
have
all the fuel injectors replaced and the Fan blower motor replaced.
Car still is a rattle trap. Don't get me wrong, over all I like my Toyotas,
everythingt was fixed under warantee to my satisfaction, but
if they were Fords with the same problems, people would just write it off
to poor Ford quality.

That survey measures the number of problems vehicle owners have after
3 years of ownership.

Who says I am happy. I am against unions, but I am not happy that GM didnt
give any bonuses. I am for the worker. Toyota seems to be taking care of
their workers better.

Bullshit, ToMh. I owned a 1995 Chevy S-10. I tried taking a chance on an
American built vehicle. Ended up selling it and getting the used 93 Corolla
I'm driving now. Much less grief. My Toyota was built in Fremont
California, and my S-10 was built somewhere in New Joisey. I can't afford
and won't drive the huge high-end cars. That's about the only place America
is any better at all. They're still stuck in the 50's mentality for small
cars. The Crapolier has replaced the Sh!tvette is all. . . . I keep
hoping the American manufacturers will get it, but they still haven't.
They still want to sell BIG cars. I don't want nor need a big car, and
never will.
I take offence that so many people in the Burbs think that since I make a
decent salary, I ought to be driving a 'fine American car' instead of a
Corolla. May I remind everyone that being thrifty used to be an American
virtue? I'm single, and probably will stay that way the rest of my life,
why do I need a big Buick or Cadillac? If I was going to buy a car to
impress people I would buy a 770 Grosser Mercedes from pre-war, or an MG-TC,
or a finely restored Model A, something along those lines. The only ride I
want to take in a Cadillac is the last one, and then I won't care, cause
I'll be in a pine box and won't get to enjoy the ride anyway!
