OT - California death penalty problem

California had to put off an execution today because they need a new means
to do it and no doctor would agree to participate. Why not just have the
prisoner go hunting with Cheney.

That's a hoot!

Even though Cheney chickened out of fighting "Charlie" in
Vietnam, I guess Cheney now knows what "friendly fire" means.
But not as well as Whittington knows the meaning of friendly fire.

Hmm, anybody know why the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong were
called "Charlie"?

"Charlie don't surf, and we want him to"--The Clash

Charlie taught us a lesson or two, didn't he. Ho Chi Minh, the
George Washington of Vietnam. I mean we were like King George over
there. They were just fighting for their independence, much as we
were 200 years ago.

The French helped us in 1776, and I guess the Ruskies helped
the Vietnamese--supplying all those weapons to Charlie, but Charlie
did all the fighting.

Well, enough war talk. Thank goodness, we're all friends today.

Well, we were friends till that chicken hawk Coke-in-Chief Bush
came along. Coke heads are always trouble...

The French FUBAR'ed Vietnam from about 1850 until 1954, slaughtering every
non-communist member of the independence movement, until there was no one
left but the Communists.

Ho Chi Minh was a strong American ally during WWII against the Japanese, and
at the end of the war Ho asked Roosevelt (and later Truman) for their
blessing for Vietnamese independence from French imperialism. The idiot
Democrats refused, and then Democrats Kennedy and Johnson got us into the
war.

the death penalty sucks big time. They should do away with it for
several reasons.

Your last remark was yet another uncalled for slam against a good decent
man. Do you ever have anything good to say about anyone. You must be a
grouch around the house.

The only thing wrong is how the murderer has more rights than the
victim.

It's certainly a stretch to call a war mongering (oh, sorry, *I* can't
serve) neocon good or decent.
The obvious pointed out, it's clear cheney's shooting incident is and was a
non-issue. It doesn't even matter whether or not they both falling-over
drunk. The whole thing is just a non-issue. Who cares?

I'd be more in favor if it were applied fairly across the board and they
could settle on a method. It's really something to see the asinine
haggling going on. Latest being a couple of doctors walk out at the
last minute delaying the outcome for another agonizing 24 hours for the
families involved.

The whole death penalty stinks as bad as the high crime of murder.

The murderer has just as much right to get killed walking the street
as his victim. He has no more and no less LEGAL rights than the
victim. That line, old as it is, is still pure and utter bullshit.

In the case of the death penalty, it's already been proven that people
have been executed and later found to be not guilty. That's
unconstitutional in and of itself. Far better to let them rot in
prison than to kill them. But no, the same US Government that didn't
want to let the dead die (shivo) wants to murder someone for murdering
someone.

You can't kill yourself. That's illegal!. But if you go shoot a cop
in the head, we'll give you a lethal dose of drugs or electrocute
you!.

Yeah, that makes sense. NOT.

Too bad Bush didn't learn anything from mistakes made in Vietnam.
