OT KFC's ads have secret ingredient
It isn't subliminal if one has to find the hidden frame, jot down the number
that would qualify you for a free chicken sandwich via a coupon you have to
print out. According to this article in 2000:

quick single frames don't force anyone to do anything but it also mentions
that the FCC in 1974 said the practice is contrary to the public interest.
I'm not sure what was meant by that. Janice's wardrobe malfunction probably
wore out many a vcr's heads but for those owning DVR's it was a piece of
cake,err...chicken?
