It has as many posts about toyotas as people with questions about them
are willing to post. I for one have posted some, but have had few
*reasons* to in the SIXTEEN years I've owned my 21 year old pickup.
And since most of the people here have a love of (or hatred for)
Toyotas, they need to have SOMETHING to talk about, so they fall back
on politics (and name calling)!
Actually, since I bought a Jeep Cherokee several months ago, the only
reason I still lurk here is Badgolferman's humor posts ;-)

He really does post some great jokes.
I steal them daily and flood the world with them....LOL
One copy goes to a friend in OZ and one to a retired Navy guy in
Canada.

Yeah, you certainly were wrong. This is not an internet site, it is a
newsgroup.

Not necessarily. Do you have a question? There are a number of experts
here who would be glad to try to help you out.
But, you called this a 'site'. Not being a wise-ass, but do you understand
the concept of Usenet?

In the grand scheme fo things...
What difference does it make?

Surely your Netscape newsreader supports filtering? The vast majority of
off-topic posts have subject headers starting with "OT". Put that in your
filter and enjoy.

"Site"? Not "newsgroup"? Are you reading this on a web page?

> Boy was I wrong.
The noise level is pretty appalling, I'll grant you. But there
are several sensible, knowledgeable people; and most who cannot
resist cluttering it with politics and jokes are kind enough to
mark their posts as "OT:" (Off-Topic), so it's not hard to miss
most junk by careful use of kill files. FWIW I only have three
regulars in the sin-bin; their vapourings are reliably rubbish.

Of course, you will also filter all subjects that contain ToyOTa,
and many other things. Now if people would all just use a colon
after the OT. I can't seem to get used to anything but Outlook
Express, which won't allow me to place a filter on OT<space>.
So I have 26 filters for this group. "ot a" ,"ot b", etc. I have a
special rule to allow badgolferman's jokes, though!

Consider all the off-topic stuff as local color. There are still lots of
Toyota discussions here, lots of amateurs and even a couple of
professionals.
Regarding this poster's use of the word "site," I think he must know
something about UseNet; after all, he is here! I think most will probably
agree, though, that UseNet won't survive much longer. Other than old hands,
you will be hard pressed to find anyone that has any idea what it is.
jor
Do you have a Toyota question or problem? Post it and it will probably be
answered.
