Jolt Brake Problem Or Something else ??

Corolla 2002 Automatic 46K miles

When I first start the car and put into into forward gear then with brakes
pressed then I get a small jolt .. I can repeat the jolting but putting the
car in reverse gear and then back into forward gear. But after driving
around for 10 minutes the jolt was very less. Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Sounds like your cold idle speed is set too high. When "choke" is on
(i.e.engine cold) the engine speed is higher than when it s warmed up. Choke
is old carb term - guess its the cold idle speed with FI.

Since the cold idle speed is controlled by a computer, it may not
necessarily be too high. How long has the original poster owned the car?

Is the cold engine idle speed higher than normal? If the engine cold idle
speed is normal, then an abnormal jolting sensation can be caused by a
broken or worn engine or transmission mount or a transmission problem. If
the transmission fluid has never been changed as a part of a preventative
maintenance procedure, then I would start with that. Make sure that the
correct transmission fluid is used.
