Why does it bother you? That information is readily available at a web
site. I don't think we need to see statistics to know who posts a lot
here, so what's the harm?

It's a throwback of the days when bandwidth was an issue. The difference
between this newsgroup and photo digital is over there newcomers bitched
about off topic stuff as if the regulars were supposed to stay on topic and
not have fun. I'm afraid it's like a cancer that will spread over here.
I'd rather not see Scott from Florida, Mike Hunt, Harichoochoo, tomh and the
rest decide this place has gotten to strict and boring, not to say for sure
they would.
Lively groups flourish. Moderated groups wither and die.

Oh you don't have to worry about that. The OT whiners come and go, but the
core posters here are forever. It's like anything else; if someone really
has a problem with OT posts, top-posting, or whatever, then they must have
a pretty empty life. I left several newsgroups because of trolls, but this
group roasts them so well I don't mind. Life is just too damned short to
get into a lather about such things, IMO. And unlike some of the whiners,
I don't make a big production out of killfiling or leaving a group. I just
do it.

Exactly...I've been around awhile and the very best weapon
against trolls and other dummies is to completely ignore
them...works every time, no fail...

I think a lot or the whiners, and certainly *all* of the trolls seek
attention anyway they can get it; so posting a silly rant is one way to get
the response they so desperately need.
