{OT} Ma says get health insurance or be penalized

Is Massachusetts warding off a Democratic Presidential victory by
instituting Healthcare for all ?
Will retailers such as Wal-Mart pay the $295 per head "fine" for not
providing some healthcare assistance?
Will it be cheaper for an individual to pay $1000 penalty for refusing to
acquire healthcare insurance?

I heard an interview on this yesterday. What a stupid idea! Sounds
like something Republicans came up with, with the emphasis on
punishment and citizen monitoring.

If people don't want insurance, and we're going to continue to let
hospitals and insurance companies run amok financially, the place to
start putting the smack down is not on the citizen.

Why dont people talk about Doctors making millions or about insurance
companies ripping consumers off. Why penelize business who are already
under heavy strain because of the changing economy. Make health care
cheaper and companies wont have any problem in providing insurance.
But I guess American Medical Association wants to keep their fat
salaries......

The first thing that needs to be taken, to slow down the increases in costs
to our healthcare, is to get all the lawyer in the US Senate to pass the
House tort reform legislation.

The legislature in Massachusetts is controlled by the Dimocrates. The
Governor is a Republican

Did you happen to see the vote? It was a landslide.

If they don't want insurance I hope they stay healthy.
Many OB/GYN have left the state or closed their practice or changed their
practice due to the high cost of mal-practice. And why is mal-practice so
high?
People place more value in being seen in a fancy car than to spend the same
on themselves to save their life through a medical procedure. True?

What would really help is to limit damages to provable amounts and ALL
PUNITIVE damages go to the government earmarked for public healthcare
without the litigators being able to charge "percentage fees".

"Fines" are a function of government anyway.

You watch "House"? Most episodes revolve around the patient or patient
family not being truthful when asked a direct question. This could be simply
passed off as being dramatic but it's so true in real life.

My wife is very thorough and truly document orientated. Twice within a two
month period two new patients made their way passed the initial consultation
phase lying to the lesser nurses and then lied to my wife. Both these women
suffered extreme pain afterwards due to their lying.

It's understandable now why a doctor orders so many tests. He or she is up
against a possible liar and a possible lawsuit. All this testing cost big
bucks.
