{OT} Pool owners

Just a friendly reminder for those who use DE filters that DE absorbs more
than just debris. Every time you dump used DE you lose calcium (for
hardness). If you switch to Aqua Perl (twice expensive over DE but use half
the amount) it doesn't absorb, it only filters debris. It also contains no
silica. It's also excellent when tilled in the garden afterwards.

I've had to use paper on occasions. Not the type you're talking about but
paper just the same. One time I used paper to trap a whole damn bottle worth
of polysheen. Another time I dropped a whole fresh role of toilet paper in
the skimmer and pulled it out two days later completely saturated with what
ever it was I set out to get.

If you were REALLY Old Fashioned, you'd have a DE filter. They had DE
filters long before they had a paper filter for swimming pools.
