I guess they can't stand the incompetence any longer either.

"Why Iraq was a mistake"
"..Was done with a casualness and swagger that are the special province
of those who have never had to execute these missions -- or bury the
results"
Lt Gen. Greg Newbold
Time April 17 issue
Washington Post Vietnam's Forgotten Lessons
Now, some have -- although from retirement. In recent days, three
former senior officers have called for Rumsfeld to be sacked. The most
recent is Marine Lt. Gen. Greg Newbold, who does not stop at faulting
Rumsfeld but blames himself as well. "I now regret that I did not more
openly challenge those who were determined to invade a country whose
actions were peripheral to the real threat -- al-Qaeda," he writes in a
Time magazine article this month. He joins Maj. Gen. Paul D. Eaton, who
commanded the training of Iraqi security forces and who has also called
on President Bush to fire Rumsfeld. "President Bush should accept the
offer to resign that Mr. Rumsfeld says he has tendered more than once,"
Eaton wrote in a New York Times op-ed piece.
The third retired general is Anthony Zinni, a four-star Marine with
vast experience in the Middle East. (He was Bush's Israeli-Palestinian
negotiator for a while.) He goes further than (merely) recommending
Rumsfeld's political defenestration. He also strongly suggests that
something is broken in the American military, that its priories are
misplaced. Too many senior officers put their careers first and candor
or honesty second. One who did not, the then-Army chief of staff, Eric
K. Shinseki, was rebuked by Rumsfeld and his career essentially ended.
After that, the brass knew that the path to promotion was to get with
the program. They saluted Rumsfeld and implemented a plan many of them
thought was just plain irresponsible.

Now, having said that, I think it is good to change the oil regularly.
Rummy has been in place for over 5 years.

and murdered!!!!!!!!!!! He wants Bush to be the next Dictator!
You go DBU!!!!!!!! A FULL 28% of Americans agree that Bush is doing a
great job! (vs the 60% who think he's a common criminal)

Funny thing is.... Newbold called American Generals "The Stepford
Generals" under big daddy Rumsfeld.
How long did Nixon supporters cling on before they went into
alcoholism, depression, valium, the radical evangelical faith, or
suicide?
Anyone got numbers? Oh, can we agree that the day Libby was indicted
was 'D' Day? (the 'D' of course, being for Democrats) -- and DeLay's
day of disgrace was the day Karl Rove jumped the shark?
:-D < for dbu, mike kunt, scott in fla, and the rest of the "busheep"
;)

A president in the second term almost always has low poll numbers.
Clinton is a recent example. It varies of course, but still low poll
numbers in the second term.
I don't want to give this away, but just for you I will. The
Republicans will keep their majority in both the house and the senate.
Taxes will once again be a major influence. The negative personal
attacks will also cause voters to react against the attackers. Nobody
likes increased taxes and the demmies have already placed their stamp of
approval on it.
GWB is irrelevant in the 08 election.
I predict there will be a strong Republican contender in 08. The
negative poll numbers at this point in time mean nothing. Voters are
outside and enjoying the nice weather, i.e. nobody really gives a shit.
Gore might just run again even though he has stated he won't, but he's a
politician thru and thru and being the opportunist he is he will jump at
the chance. Hillary might run and that would be good for the Republican
contender in 08.
Gore should loose a little weight and get himself in shape, start
jogging like Bill Clinton, perhaps learn to play a musical instrument
and appear on a few late night talk shows, but please Al give up the
beard thing, it does not help, along with the re-inventing himself ect.
All phony baloney. If Al can get the collage aged out to vote he might
have a chance, but that is a very iffy thing....Oh well.
Should be interesting.
Cheers

Ever notice when some former General says something in opposition to the war
on radial Islamic terrorists in Iraq, it make the front page and all of the
columns. When the current and former Generals say something is support of
the war on radical Islamic terrorists in Iraq, it never make the front page
or the columns. I wonder why that is? ;)
