3sGTE engine balancing

Does anyone know if these are balanced at the factory as one unit
(crank/pulley/flywheel) or if they are just balanced individually and
assembled? Theres plenty of people saying either way so I'm looking for
someone who actually knows for sure, but people with facts are hard to
find.

Unfortunately, I do not have a definite answer to your question and knowing
Toyota's reluctance to share information on manufacturing and assembly
methods, I doubt if you will get one.

I am somewhat familiar with Toyota's vehicle assembly methods and assuming
that the same processes are applied to powertrain assembly, my guess is that
each of those components are balanced individually and then assembled in
order to speed up the actual assembly process. I know that each engine is
run in prior to shipping to vehicle assembly locations.
